What can I say about Frontier Trust? It's the reason I am here in Omaha today. It's the reason our label is what it is.
Rising from the ashes of Pioneer Disaster, these guys built a reputation on their out of control live show (Gary fondly recalls the night he "broke" a stage..). .After touring all over the place, often with pals Mercy Rule, and releasing several 45's, the band recorded the "Speed! Nebraska" album, and forever changed the rules of what a rootsy punk rock band could be.
Somewhere in between a warp-speed Uncle Tupelo and a pissed of Johnny Cash, these guys struck a resounding chord in the music scene of the early 90's.
Even though in many ways they seem light years away from where I am today, I can still see Joe, barefoot and playing with the fat end of his drumsticks, Bill, southern gentlemanly with his guitar around his knees, Brian, head down and plowing through like a hellbent bulldozer while a pogoing Gary spat out his spastic-mile a minute-good ol' boy yawp like some crazed auctioneer. If it is possible to still be buzzing from contact nearly seven years since I last saw them perform- then I guess I am.
